SAP Acquires Qualtrics for $8 Billion
There has been a major shakeup in the cloud industry – Experience management company, Qualtrics, was all set for an IPO launch this week before SAP announced that it is acquiring the company for $8 billion. The German-based technology giant secured 7 billion euros in financing to ensure the move happens and the deal is expected to close in the first two quarters of 2019.
Cisco and Amazon Integrating New Cloud Product
Cisco recently announced the launch of a hybrid deployment option for customers of both Cisco and Amazon’s Web Services. Under the new integration of the product, the Cisco Hybrid Solution for Kubernetes [pronounced Q-BER-NET-EZ) now on AWS will enable the configuration of a Container Platform that is optimized for easy deployment of application on either the Cisco platform or the AWS platform.
OpenX Brings on Former Google Executive Michael Martin
Independent advertising technology provider, OpenX, recently announced that Michael Martin will join the company as Vice President of Global DSP Partnerships. Martin previously served at Google for over a decade, most previously as head of sales. He previously held executive roles at DBM and other units within Google’s advertising business.
Alibaba Leans into Cloud Computing
Alibaba has decided to make Alicloud, their cloud computing arm, its main business in the future. Alibaba may face competition in the cloud market, but that has not stopped CEO Daniel Zhang from focusing on growing Alibaba cloud computing.
Cisco recently announced the layoff of roughly 460 employees from their San Jose, California headquarters. As part of their new customer experience strategy, Maria Martinez, head of the organizational shakeup, is seeking to align Cisco’s customer experience initiatives with cloud and subscription services.
Adroll Acquires Growlabs and Boosts Rollworks Unit
Two-year-old startup, Growlabs, has been acquired by Adroll Group to help them boost their identity graph and data capabilities. In an attempt to strengthen their B2B offerings, Adroll Group has acquired Growlabs to help their RollWorks unit provide B2B marketers with a better account-based solution.
VoltDB and MapR Technologies Join Forces
To support machine learning and real-time decision making, VoltDB and MapR Technologies have joined forces. VoltDB, a real-time application database, will derive analytics results from data streams based on machine learning algorithms from MapR Technologies.
Mixpanel Expands Business Offerings
To include more programs geared toward startups and nonprofit companies, Mixpanel has decided to expand their business offerings. Mixpanel is the world’s largest user analytics platform and is looking to expand their commitment to helping organizations grow and make more data-informed marketing decisions.
Vector Media Group Acquires Happy Cog
Award-winning digital agency, Vector Media Group, has acquired renowned content strategy, web design, and development studio, Happy Cog. As brands increasingly seek comprehensive solutions, as a combined entity, the agency will now provide brands with more integrated digital strategies and marketing capabilities.
